- Soil a mixed gravel and clay ground, located between the town of Libourne on the west and the Dordogne river on the east. The Cabernet Franc grows where the gravel is prevalent, the Merlots where the clay is.

- Yield low, generally around 30 hectolitres/ha

- Vine cultivation removal of buds, base-buds, splinters, pruning, de-leafing, green harvest, mechanical weeding

- Harvesting grape-picking by hand, gathered in picking baskets, each berry carefully sorted by the grape-pickers

- Vinification de-stemming, cold pre-fermentation maceration, alcoholic fermentation, final thermo-maceration (30-32 C), left in vats for 5 to 8 weeks depending on the vintage. Malo-lactic fermentations in new barrels, stirring of the lees

- Maturation 18 months in new barrels. Merlot and Cabernet-Franc are blended at the end of the maturation process
